Sax Coach Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Sax Coach (com.vitor.saxcoach) is developed by Vitor Ribeiro, an individual developer based in Brazil, who is the controller of the data described here. Contact: contato@saxcoach.app.
2. Microphone
The app listens to the microphone in real time to detect the notes you play (pitch detection runs on your device). Audio is processed in memory and discarded immediately: it is never recorded, stored or sent to us or anyone else. You can revoke the permission at any time in iPhone Settings.
3. Data that stays on your device
Stars, XP, streak, practice times, onboarding answers, settings and imported scores are stored only on your iPhone (UserDefaults and app files). We have no access to them. Deleting the app deletes this data (iCloud/computer backups made by iOS may contain a copy under your and Apple's control).
4. Reminders
If you turn on reminders, they are local notifications scheduled on your device. No data is sent to any server for this.
5. Sheet-music import (PDF or photo)
When you choose a PDF or photo to import, that file is uploaded over HTTPS to our server, converted to MusicXML with Audiveris (open-source optical music recognition) and returned to the app. Temporary files are deleted right after conversion. The file is not stored, not used for any other purpose and not linked to your identity. Only upload content you have the right to use.
6. Sheet-music store (purchases)
Payments are processed by Apple; we never receive your name, email or payment details. After a purchase, the app sends the App Store–signed transaction to our server so we can verify it and deliver the file. We keep a sales ledger with: transaction ID, product ID, price, currency, App Store storefront (country) and date. We use it to deliver content, handle refunds and account for royalties to rights holders. It contains no name or email.
7. Sax Coach Premium subscription
The subscription is managed entirely by Apple. The app checks your subscription status through StoreKit on your device.
8. Legal bases and purposes
- Sheet-music import: performing the service you requested (GDPR art. 6(1)(b); LGPD art. 7, V).
- Sales ledger: performance of contract, legal obligations (tax/accounting) and our legitimate interest in paying rights holders correctly (GDPR art. 6(1)(b), (c) and (f); LGPD art. 7, II, V and IX).
9. Sharing and international transfers
We do not sell data or share it for advertising. Sales records may be reported in aggregate to the rights holders of the sheet music. Our server may be hosted by a cloud provider outside your country; such transfers follow the safeguards required by the GDPR and LGPD.
10. Retention
Import files: deleted right after conversion. Sales ledger: kept as long as needed for royalty accounting and tax and legal obligations.
11. Your rights (GDPR and LGPD)
You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and information about sharing, and you may complain to your data protection authority (in Brazil, the ANPD). Because we do not identify you, to locate a purchase record please provide the transaction ID shown on your Apple receipt. Write to contato@saxcoach.app.
12. Children
The app is suitable for all ages, but it is not directed at collecting data from children under 13. Sax Coach collects no personal data from any user, including children. Purchases require a parent's or guardian's Apple Account, under Apple's rules.
13. Security
All communication with our server uses HTTPS. Access to the sales ledger is restricted to the developer.
14. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above shows the current version; material changes will be announced in the app or on this page.
